Syntax, The Ferret.
Just recently I recieved a ferret from my cousins, cousin. She was off to college and needed someone to take care of him. So very happily I decided to take him :) I feel lucky, and am very glade that my cousins was thinking about me as someone to take him in :) Im also am very fortunate and glade the last owners, trusted him with me. He is seriously so lovable! At the start of it, I was not sure how much I was going to like a ferret, I am so used to rats and have dedicated so much time to them. I have thought about getting a ferret, but its never been a priority and nothing I really looked into that much. Me being the animal nerd I am, I already knew alot about ferrets, but its one thing to read about them from actually associating with them. One thing that took me awhile to get used to is energy level, The first week in free mode he was so excited about all the new things, and was just so full of life. One thing that he did help with was letting me know where all my holes in the kitchen was, I finally now have them covered but he still trys his hardest to get in :) soon his curiousity died, he had seen everything and had spent good enough time downstairs. He is always wild though, but I love it :) he loves to play under the rug and for awhile cassie and him had a good game of hid and seek going. He loves shoes, I got him a bunch of old ones just for him to tear the inside up(or the little damage he actually does) I finally got him to the point where he plays for a couple hours and then will come up and cuddle with me on the couch and sleep, its very cute. Speaking of cute, the cutest thing that he is up to lately is, when we go to the park he will follow me up the playground, then after I go down the slide he will follow :) I recently dug up a tunnel for him underground thats not very big but he loves being able to go in it. Found out, he is not the biggest fan of water when I gave him a bath, but im working on it, hopefully he will get used to having a bath once a month. Anways ill keep posted on him later, im really glade I am taking care of him and am in love with him!!
Nala- and Rat updates
I have a new addition to the family, her name is Nala :)(I finally got a blue :) I got her from a breeder.
I decided to get her after the passing of Kaya and Jane, she had been lonely and depressed. april is
to active of a rat to be alone, so I felt it was the right thing to do. Nala was a little nervous the
first week but has really opened up, she still needs to get used to my schedule but she is doing very
well for a 7 week old rat. She is very active at times, but she loves her sleep more then most female
rats I have had, yet its been a long time since I have had a baby, so that might be the reason. She
is already very trusting in the foods I give her, its very weird to see that, because most my other
rats it took me awhile for them to just take the food and start eating. It could be that she was raised
by a breeder, and it also could be the help of april. It actually could end up being a bad thing if she
runs into something that she shouldnt have. When I first introduced Nala to April it was very easy, but
if April was aggressive in the smallest way the biggest fights would have went down. Nala was jumping
on April and would not leave her alone, It was easy to tell it was driving her crazy :) The breeder informed
me that all his rats have been of good health, so im hoping no health issues pop up in her. Im glade to have
her and I know april is to.

R.I.P. Jane
Jane Passed away not to long after Kaya did, her death was almost unexpected. About a week before she died she was showing weird signs, she wasnt moving as much, When I would get her out she almost looked as though she was in pain but I guess I was not seeing it as much then as when I look back at it now, her eyes where always half shut and her body was curled. yet I didnt think much of it at the time and was getting ready for a camping trip with my family. I had my best friend take care of it while I was gone, and jokingly I told her if she dies just bury her at my familys house. Yet I was not actually thinking she was going to die. That day before I left she was not getting out of her house and thats when I felt something was wrong, I guess I kept telling myself maybe she is sick or somethings just upsetting her pushing death or the idea that something was seriously wrong. So while I was camping I Finally turned on my phone to see if I got any text messages or voice mails, and the first text I see is jane died. I was hit hard, It was very depressing, then to top it off my friend maddie did not want to touch it at all, she was late to work trying to get it out but could not. she ended up taking april out of the cage and putting her in a carrier cage until someone could take out janes body and I could come home and clean the cage(we ended up just buying a new cage because april had put a hole in it anyways) So my dad finally went over and buried it. I never got to see her :( but im kinda glade I didnt already having to mess with kaya. my dad said that alot of blood could be seen from inside, I dont know if its from her being hairless or if it was from internal bleeding. her cause of death is totally unknown. I loved Jane :) She was always such a sweet heart, most lady like rat I had. R.I.P. Jane I love you
R.I.P. Kaya
Kaya passed away awhile back, her tumor finally got so huge that she couldnt walk at all and it started getting cut open and started to rot. The smell was unbearable. I was kinda upset with myself for letting it go so long, and not putting her down before I let that happen. I decided to finally put her down myself, in what I thought was a humane way. it was a very hard decision and even a harder action. I did it by creating CO2 with baking soda and white vinegar. Here is a video from youtube that shows you how I did it, some people may find this disturbing just a warning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wv7BEMcsS6k . I really hope it was a nice way to go, and im glade she is not in pain anymore. Ill never forget the good times with her, and the memory of the first
day I got her :) R.I.P. Kaya I love you
